Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday arrested a drug peddler and seized a huge quantity of contraband substance from his possession in Anantnag.

A police spokesperson said that at a naka check point at Sangam Chowk, a police party while carrying out the searches intercepted one suspected person and from his possession recovered huge quantity of codeine phosphate.

“The drug peddler has been identified as Amir Ali Chopan son of Ali Mohammad Chopan, a resident of Rajpora Pulwama,” the spokesperson said in the statement.

A case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up.
