South Kashmir: Classwork resumes in IUST after two days

Srinagar: Class work resumed on Saturday after remaining suspended in the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, in south Kashmir.

Class work and all scheduled examinations of the university were postponed on Thursday after several buses were damaged due to stone pelting on Wednesday afternoon by demonstrators who hit the streets near the university after killing of two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants, including Naveed Jat, a Pakistani resident.

However, on Friday, class work remained suspended in the university as a precautionary measure following killing of two Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants in an encounter by security forces in Khrew in Pulwama district on Thursday.

”Normally, our classes remain off on Saturday,” students said. A message was received last night that despite Saturday, students are directed to attend their classes.

However, new dates for examination postponed on Thursday and Friday will be announced later, the IUST said.
