Srinagar: A gunfight broke out between government forces and militants in Kuthpora village of Chatergam in central Kashmir’s Budgam district in the wee hours on Wednesday.

Sources said that a joint team of government forces including the army, SOG of Jammu and Kashmir police and paramilitary forces launched a cordon and search operation in the village following inputs about the presence of militants.

As the house where militants were suspected to be hiding in, was zeroed in, the militants fired at the forces triggering a gunfight.
