South Kashmir: Several injured in Shopian clashes, 4 including 2 girls with bullet injuries referred to Srinagar

Srinagar: Four youths including two girls have been referred to Srinagar hospitals from Shopian where government forces used force to disperse the protesters agitating against the militant killings.

Sources said the government forces fired indiscriminately on the protesters and also used pellets to scare away the protesters. However, the protesters kept pelting government forces with stones leading t injuries to several civilians.

“Three civilians including two girls have suffered bullet injuries, while another has suffered pellet injuries in head,” they said.

While one of the youth has suffered bullet in his leg, one of the girls has been hit with bullet in her arm and the other has been hit with bullet in her hand. Another youth has been hit with pellets in head. All the four have been admitted to SMHS hospital in Srinagar.

Intense clashes erupted in the village after youths clashes with government forces in the village even as a gunfight ensued in the village.

Four militants and a para-commando were killed in the gunfight. Three other forces personnel were injured.
