South Kashmir: Clashes erupt in Pulwama village as govt forces launch cordon and search operation

Srinagar: Clashes erupted in Arihal village of southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday morning after government forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the area.

Reports said that a contingent of army, special operations group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF personnel cordoned Budh Mohalla in Arihal and started a search operation.

As the cordon was being laid, said witnesses, scores of youth hit streets and pelted stones at government forces.

The government forces retaliated by lobbing tear gas shells to disperse the youth. Clashes in the area were going on when this report was filed.
