Srinagar: Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chairperson Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai on Tuesday termed November 6, 1947, as a “black day” in the history of Kashmir.

In a statement, Sehrai said that it was on this day when lakhs of Muslims were massacred in Jammu region by the communal forces patronized by the rulers. “It was on this day when lakhs of Jammu Muslims were driven out of their homes and butchered by communal forces.”

Paying tributes to Jammu Martyrs, Sehrai said that the massacre was carried out to change the demography of the region.

He said the communal forces had desperately tried to repeat these acts in recent past as well. “VDCs and other fascist groups that have become a symbol of state terrorism in Jammu belt, is a glaring example of this. Till date this massacre stands as one of the worst human tragedies where innocent men, women and children were massacred in cold blood.”
