Al-Badr militant arrested during naka checking in northern Kashmir’s Handwara; arms, ammunition recovered

Srinagar: Police on Friday arrested a Al-Badr militant in Handwara area of Kupwara district in Northern Kashmir.

A Police spokesperson said that on specific information, a joint Nakka of Police, Army and 92 CRPF was laid at Chutipora crossing at 1430 hrs. “During checking a suspicious person was intercepted. On his search a pistol and 2 grenades were recovered. The person was identified as Sajjad Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Hamid Dar, a resident of Rohumu Pulwama.”

Sajjad, police said, had been missing from his home since 03/10/2018 and a report to the effect had been lodged in Police Station Rajpora, District Pulwama.

The police spokesperson said that Sajjad had recently joined the militant organisation Al Badr.
