Srinagar: Government forces on Wednesday launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in south Kashmir district of Shopian, official sources said.

They said troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint search operation at village Lousdenu in Shopian following a tip off about the presence of militants.

All the exit points were sealed and house-to-house search operation was launched, they said, adding that so far, no contact was established with the militants. Details are awaited, they said.

Additional forces and state police personnel have been deployed outside the cordoned off area to prevent any demonstration, they added.
