Srinagar: Despite restrictions massive throng was witnessed in the funeral prayers of slain Lashkar militant who was killed along with his associate in Kreeri area of northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.

Witnessed said that hundreds of people assembled in Khanpora locality of the town after the body of Akeel Rashid Sofi reached his home early this morning.

Groups of youth staged pro-freedom demonstration and clashed with the government forces.

“The pitched battles continued for sometime before the government forces withdrew from the area,” witnesses said.

Thousands of people attended funeral prayers of the slain youth near the shrine of Hazrat Janbazwali at Khanpora. The slain militant was later buried at martyrs’ graveyard Khanpora.
