Srinagar: Clashes amid pro-freedom protests have erupted in Nowgam area of Kashmir’s capital city Srinagar following the killing of two militants in a gunfight with government forces in the area.

Witnesses said that scores of youth hit streets in Soothu Kothair Bagh area of Nowgam as the news about the killing of two militants spread in the area.

Amidst intense pro-freedom and anti-India slogans, the youth hurled rocks on government forces who lobbed tear gas canisters to disperse the stone pelting youth.

The clashes were going on when this report was being filed.
