Kupwara District Admin orders closure of educational institutions amid fears of protests against militant killings

Srinagar: The district administration Kupwara on Monday ordered closure of all educational institutions in the district amid fears of protests against the killing of top Hizbul Mujahideen commander Mannan Wani and his associate in a gunfight with government forces last week.

Barring Karnah and Macchil, class work in all the schools and colleges in the north Kashmir district remained suspended today as a ‘precautionary measure’, reports quoting officials said. 

Wani, a top Hizb commander and his associate were killed in a fierce encounter with government forces in Shatgund village of the district on Thursday.
