Funeral prayers in absentia held for Mannan, associate in Budgam, Srinagar

Srinagar: Hundreds of people in Beerwah town of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday held funeral prayers in absentia for slain scholar turned militant Mannan Wani.

The prayers were held immediately after the congregational Friday prayers culminated in the town.

Witnesses said that hundreds of people after Friday prayers at grand mosque assembled in the main town and offered absentia prayers to the slain militants who were killed on Thursday by government forces in Shatgund are of Handwara in northern Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

They said that people later dispersed peacefully.

Reports of absentia funeral prayers for the slain were also received from Jinab sb in Soura in Srinagar.

Earlier reports said that people in Tikkipora, the native village of Mannan, hundreds of people offered funeral prayers to the slain.
