Srinagar: An army personnel was injured in a road accident in Kupwara on Saturday afternoon.

Reports said that a speeding vehicle hit him while he was performing duty in Rawatpora area of northern Kashmir’s Kupwara district. One of the passengers travelling in the passenger vehicle was also injured.

“A passenger cab (JK09-8620) on way to Kupwara from Karnah hit an army soldier near Rawatpora, resulting in injuries to him and a person who was travelling in the vehicle,” reports said.

The identity of the army personnel could not be ascertained, while the civilian was identified as Adil Hussain, a resident of Mandi Karnah.

Witnesses said that while injured civilian was shifted to a local hospital, the army soldier was taken to an army hospital for specialized treatment.
