Srinagar: The Peoples Democratic Party lawmaker Aijaz Ahmad Mir on Thursday alleged the Jammu and Kashmir Police of compelling the families of his former Personal Security Officers to speak against him in the “weapon heist case”.
On September 28, an SPO, Adil Bashir decamped with 7 AK-47 rifles and Mir’s licensed pistol from his official residence at Jawahar Nagar in Srinagar.
The Personal Security Officers of Mir have been detained in Police Station Rajbagh.
Is this a policing?
How can a Munshi (policeman), of Rajbagh police station, abuse a legislator in front of dozens of other policemen? And then went on levelling serious allegations, accusations against his family as well.@MehboobaMufti @OmarAbdullah

Mir, a PDP lawmaker from Wachi constituency of Shopian in southern Kashmir, said that the families of the detained PSO’s had gone to meet them at Raj Bagh police station. “While the families were waiting for a meeting with their detained family members, the Munshi of the said police station has abused me and my family members and compelled them to speak against me during the course of investigations.
Mir, quoting the family members of the detained policemen said, that the Munshi hurled choicest abuses on him and his family. “The Munshi told the family members to motivate the PSO’s to speak against Mir and allege his involvement in the case.”
Pertinently, on Wednesday Mir told The Kashmir Press that he will coordinate with the police in the investigations into the incident.
Meanwhile, the Station House Officer of Rajbagh police station told The Kashmir Press that the MLA called him and conveyed to him about the incident. “I have already raised the issue with SSP Srinagar,” the SHO Ayaz Geelani said.
