Srinagar: The civil secretariat, the seat of Jammu and Kashmir government, will close in Srinagar by month end to reopen in winter capital Jammu on November 5 as part of the bi-annual ‘Darbar Move’, a practice started by Maharaja Gulab Singh in 1872.

“The offices observing five-day week shall close at Srinagar on 26th October, after the office hours and the offices observing six-days week shall close on 27 October after the office hours. All the offices shall reopen at Jammu on 5th November,” the order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) today said.
