Civilian killing: Mirwaiz placed under house arrest

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday detained Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at his Nigeen residence.

A spokesperson of Hurriyat (M) said that a contingent of forces reached the Nigeen residence of Mirwaiz and informed him that he was under house detention.

Mirwaiz was scheduled to address the Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.

Pertinently, the Joint Resistance Leadership including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and Yasin Malik have called for a shutdown today on Friday against the “barbaric” killing of civilians and the arrest spree of resistance activists.
