Official convicted in corruption case

SRINGAR: A government official was convicted on Wednesday of corruption charge at the court of Anti-Corruption Judge, Srinagar, Ravinder Nath Wattal.

The official was accused of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3000 from a person for processing his file regarding providing of a pathway.

The court sentenced the accused to undergo one-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs.15000 under the Prevention of Corruption Act and six months imprisonment and a fine of Rs.2500 under Section 161 RPC.
