Govt announces 7th pay commission benefits for SSA teachers

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday approved the 7th Pay commission in favour of SSA teachers who were on hunger strike for last two weeks.

Sources said that the teachers will get the effect from April 2018 like all other employees.

They said that the decision to this effect was taken during a meeting which was chaired by the Governor S P Malik.

As the decision came, the SSA teachers called off their strike.

Since September 4 the Sarva Shikhsha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers were on an indefinite hunger strike in Srinagar to press in their demands.

Earlier, the government had constituted a Committee headed by Principal Secretary Finance to look into the grievances of teachers, in particular the SSA Teachers.
