Eighty thousand children successfully vaccinated for measles on the first day

‘Measles- Rubella Vaccination Campaign launched across the state of Jammu and Kashmir’.

Srinagar: Around eighty thousand children were successfully vaccinated  for measles on the first day of their school activity.

The authorities vaccinated 80,023 children for the disease after measles- rubella (MR) Vaccination campaign was successfully launched in the state

Jammu and Kashmir which aims to Vaccinate 37,72,960 children in the age group of 9 months to 15 years.

Vaccination certificates were issued to all the beneficiaries.

The MR campaign was launched in all the districts of Jammu and Kashmir except for Kathua and Doda because of closure of schools ordered by respective deputy commissioners on account inclement Weather.

Dr Samir Mattoo, Director Family Welfare MCH, immunization, J&K launched the campaign from specially-abled School for Deaf & dumb, Solina Rambagh.

District Developments Commissioners/ADC’s launched the campaign in the districts in presence of Chief Medical Officers, Dy. Chief Medical Officers, DIOs & BMOs.

The health authorities said the campaign was running successfully in the entire state.

“Trained Vaccinators have been pressed into service for the Campaign. More than 25000 sessions have been planned for the activity,” the health authorities stated.

In the first phase the school going children will be vaccinated in 29,382 Schools throughout the State, 11914 ASHAs and 29472 Angan Wari Workers will mobilize children during the second phase of activity.

Vaccines and Logistics received from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have already been distributed to all the districts and Blocks well in advance under proper cold chain.

“Sensitization trainings /Extensive IEC activities were carried out before the launch of the campaign,” the health authorities stated.

“In case of any Adverse events following the vaccination , due care has been taken of and AEFI Kits in this regard have been provided to all the Vaccinators in the State”.
