Bandipora shuts for 4th straight day against militant killings

Srinagar: Bandipora district in northern Kashmir is observing a complete shutdown for the fourth consecutive day on Monday to protest the killings of five militants during a gunfight with government forces.

Reports reaching The Kashmir Press said that all the shops and business establishments in the district are shut while traffic is mostly off the roads.

They said that heavy deployment of police and CRPF has been made at several locations in the district to thwart any protests.

Five militants were killed in a gunfight in Sakbabun area of Sumlar village in the district during a gunfight that began on Thursday. It ended on Friday with the killing of five militants. All the five according to police were Pakistani nationals.
