Srinagar: Government forces on Thursday killed at least two militants in a gunfight in Sokbabun area of Sumlar village in Bandipora district.
Acting on a specific input about the presence of militants in the Sokbabun village, Police officials said that Army’s 14 RR, SOG of J&K police and CRPF launched joint Cordon and Search Operation.
They said that as the joint team of government forces were carrying the operation, the militants fired on them triggering an encounter.
Police sources confirmed that two militants have been killed so far, however, the bodies have not been retrieved yet. “The operation is going on. There are apprehensions of two more militants hiding in the area,” they said.
