Kashmir shuts against civilian, militant killings

Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed across Kashmir in response to the call of joint resistance leadership (JRL) against civilian and militant killings.

While Public and Private transport and business establishments remained shut in Srinagar reports from district headquarters said that all shops, business establishments, schools and colleges, petrol pumps remained closed.

Reports said that many government offices also witnessed thin attendance of employees in view of the strike.

Stringent security measures have been put in place in many volatile towns of the Valley to thwart any attempts of people to hold pro-freedom demonstrations.
