Two associates of Hizbul operative held in Assam

Guwahati, Sep 15 (UNI) A second suspected associate of arrested Hizbul Mujahideen operative Kamruz Zaman, Saidul Alam, was arrested from Nagaon district of central Assam today.

Official sources said here Alam, a student of a Nagaon college, was apprehended for his close links with Zaman. Another suspected associate of Zaman, Shahnawaz Hussain, was arrested from neighbouring Hojai yesterday.

Police have taken both the arrested persons in six days custody and details of their association with Zaman and their activities in the state are expected to be extracted during the police custody.

Meanwhile, a team of Assam Police has reached Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh for pursuing the case of arrest of Zaman.

Zaman, who hails from Hojai district of Assam, was arrested from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh on September 13.

Zaman had disclosed his Hizbul links by posting a photograph with arms on Facebook in April this year.

He is suspected to have been recruited by the militant outfit during his stay in Kashmir in 2017. (UNI)
