Gunfight rages at Kakriyal in Jammu; 2 forces personnel suffer injuries

Srinagar: Government forces on Thursday established a contact with militants who fled from a naka in Jhjjar Kotli, in Jammu forests at Kakriyal near Mata Vaishnu Devi university thereby ensuing a gunfight. 

Sources said that two forces personnel suffered injuries in the initial firing. 

The encounter was going on till the last reports came in.

“The firing is going on from the both sides,” a reports quoting police officials said.

On Wednesday, a joint search operation to track suspected militants, who managed to flee after opening fire at a naka party at Jajjar Kotli area of Jammu, continued for the second day.

Police had intercepted a truck at a motel and during the search one suspected militant opened fire before escaping into the nearby forest area.

The district administration Udhampur also ordered the closure of schools and other educational institutions within the Tikri Zone  on Thursday as a precautionary measure.
