J&K police removes SHO, suspends 4 constables after drug peddlers escape from custody in Udhampur

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday removed a Station House Officer (SHO) and suspended four constables after two drug peddlers fled from custody in Udhampur district.

Police said that Iftikhar Ali and Parvinder Singh, the drug peddlers escaped from the Udhampur police station on Monday night.

Taking cognizance of the incident, Head Constable Qasim, Head Constable Parshotam, Special Grade Constable (SGCT) Des Raj and SGCT Daleep Singh were suspended and SHO V S Choudhary was removed from his post on Tuesday, officials said.

A case was registered in this connection, and SGCT Daleep Kumar, who was on sentry duty, was detained for questioning, they said.
