During course of questioning, Jaish suspect attempts to end his life in Anantnag

Srinagar: A Jaish-e-Muhammad suspected affiliate on Thursday attempted to end his life by slitting his throat during the course of questioning by Jammu and Kashmir police in Anantnag district.

A police official said that on September 5, 2018, a Jaish suspect Feroz Ahmed Hajjam son of Ghulam Rasool Hajam, a resident of Iqbal Pora Kherti Larnoo was arrested. He was wanted in connection with case FIR No 125/2018 of Police Station Kokernag.

Detailing, the police official said that the said suspect remained under surveillance for quite some time and was subsequently apprehended on September 5.

“During the course of questioning the suspect went to attend the nature’s call and while in the washroom attempted to take his own life by slitting his throat,” the official said.

Hajam was given immediate medical aid and was shifted to a hospital in critical condition. The police official said that Hajam is under treatment in District Hospital Anantnag.

The police have initiated necessary legal action in the incident.
