Hizb militants family alleges forces of ransacking, thrashing during search operation; Police deny

Srinagar: The government forces have allegedly ransacked the house of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant, Lateef Ahmad Dar in Dogripora area of Awantipora late Tuesday evening.

The family of Dar and their neighbours also alleged that they were beaten up by the forces during the late night operation.

SSP Awantipora Muhammad Zahid told The Kashmir Press that the allegations of the militants family about ransacking and thrashing are baseless. “These are baseless claims,” he said.

However, the SSP said that the operation was launched in the area “Yes there was a search operation, but no one was beaten or ransacking took place,” he said.

The allegations of the ransacking and beating comes days after a face off between police and militants where they targeted each others families.

Dar is one of the oldest surviving militants and once believed to be a close associate of slain Burhan Wani.
