Amid clashes over militant killings, Sixty four injured in Khudwani, seven in Anantnag

Kulgam:  More than sixty persons have been injured, most of them by pellet guns, during clashes in Khudwani area following killing of a  militant Umar Wani belonging to the area in Anantnag on Wednesday morning 

Dr Aijaz, at Qaimoh PHC said that 64 injured persons were brought to PHC Qaimoh. Of which four have been referred to District hospital Anantnag.

“They had pellet injuries on face and eye,” he said.

Seven persons were injured in Anantnag during clashes between protesters and forces.

“Among the injured is Mudassir ahmad s.o mohmmad hayat r.o Qadir shopian, with bullet injury in right arm,” doctors at Anantnag District Hospital said.

Two militants including Umar wani were killed on Wednesday morning during a gun battle between forces and militant in muniwar area of anantnag.

Umar was killed alongside Altaf Kachroo, longest surviving and most important commander of Hizbul Mujahideen. Umar, according to police had recently escaped an encounter in Battamaloo area of Srinagar. One police man was killed in the battamaloo encounter.
