New Delhi: New Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Satya Pal Malik on Monday called on the President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi here.
According to official sources, both the meetings have been described as courtesy call.
Mr Malik, who was sworn in as new Governor of the militancy-hit state on August 23, replaced NN Vohra.
This is his first visit to the national capital since he took over the charge of the state. Jammu and Kashmir is at present under Governor’s rule.
The new Governor in Jammu and Kashmir is seen by many as a political appointee. Unlike his predecessors who served the state in the past three decades, Mr Malik is a first appointee from ‘full time political background’ appointed to the post where earlier people were mainly drawn from military or bureaucratic background.
