Handwara: An army solider was killed in a gunfight between government forces and militants on Friday in Kralgund Handwara in northern Kashmir’s kupwara district.

An army solider sustained injuries during gunfight and was evacuated to nearby health centre.

” Rifleman Rambabu Sahi succumbed to injuries,” officials said.

Ealrier  cordon cordon was laid in the area by Army’s 32RR after receiving credible inputs regarding presence of militants in kachlu Karlgund village in Handwara.

As the cordon was intensified hiding militants fired upon the search party, triggering off an gunfight, sources said.

After a brief exchange of gunfire between militants and security forces.

However the searchers are on in the area to nab the militants.
