Cong demands printing of election list in Urdu for urban local body polls in J&K

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee urged the state Election Authority (Chief Electoral Officer) to provide the Voter list of ULB and Panchayats in Hindi and English in addition to Urdu in Sunderbani-Nowshera and such other parts of the district Rajouri where people are finding difficulty because majority of population is non-Urdu knowing

“The majority of population in these areas is not Urdu knowing as a result the people are facing lot of difficulty and it is necessary that the Election Authority make available Hindi and English version of the Voter list to facilitate the large population of people number to participation in the Electoral process,” JKPCC Spokesman Ravinder Sharma said on Friday in a statement issued here.

He said that such other areas in the district and other parts of province should also be identified and final voter list should be made available in English and Hindi simultaneously along with Urdu as well, like in various parts of Jammu province.

“The government should immediately address the genuine demands of the agitating SSA Teachers and Masters regarding their demands for the benefit of 7th Pay commission and delinking their salaries from the central sources of funding,” Mr Sharma added.


Mr Sharma said that these SSA Teachers and Masters especially RET Teachers have been facing numerous hardships because of wrong policies of the previous government and total failure to address their genuine demands projected by them in a peaceful and democratic manner in the past but their demand were ignored and neglected, forcing them to come on roads in order to seek readdressal of their grievances.

“Their families and children’s were facing lot of hardships for not getting timely and regular salaries,” he demanded and appealed to the Governor to sympathetically consider their genuine and justified demands at the earliest.
