New Delhi,: The much talked about Doklam issue with China has been resolved by “diplomatic maturity”, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said in Lok Sabha on Wednesday and maintained that the maiden informal Summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping was high successful.

“Wahan til bhar ka parivartan nahi hae (There is not an inch of change in status quo on ground),” Ms Swaraj said amid thumping of desks by treasury bench.

Answering supplementary questions from Trinamool Congress member Sugata Bose, the External Affairs Minister informed the House of the People during Question Hour that the first informal Summit between Mr Modi and President Xi Jinping in the Chinese city of Wuhan in April this year was successful and it could achieve three major milestones.

“It could help create a right atmosphere for diplomatic efforts between two countries, it could bring about mutual understanding between two leaders and also build up mutual trust between the two,” Ms Swaraj and clarified that “no specific agenda” was pre-fixed for the informal Summit.

“I am answering the question because I am capable of answering the questions….because I had gone to Chine and interacted with the Chinese Foreign Minister for the first informal summit,” the Minister said when Mr Bose and Congress members including Mallikarjun Kharge, K C Venugopal and Jyotiraditya Scindia insisted that Prime Minister Modi, who was present in the House, should reply to the members.

Prime Minister sat patiently smiling occasionally and at one point of time was seen interacting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who sits next to Mr Modi.

The Trinamool member Mr Bose said he was asking questions specifically on Doklam as the Chinese army is said to have moved “uncomfortably closed” to Siliguri corridor in West Bengal.

But after Mr Swaraj’s reply, the Jadavpur lawmaker, said – “I am happy to learn that Doklam issue has been resolved by diplomatic efforts”.
