Srinagar: Congratulating cricketer-turned politician of Pakistan Imran Khan for victory of his Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf (PTI) in the general elections, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said his hard work and tenacity won the day.
Meanwhile, chairman of moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq welcomed Khan’s statement for resolution of all issues, including Kashmir dispute through dialogue.
Taking to micro blogging site twitter president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba said “ Congratulations to @ImranKhanPTI on his victory. His hard work and tenacity won the day”.
Earlier, she had tweeted that “It is heartening to know that the people of Pakistan have rejected extremist forces in the elections. That is the strength of democracy. One always gets to choose”.
The Mirwaiz in a tweet on Friday said, “ Welcome the statement of PTI chief @ImranKhanPTI calling for resolution of #Kashmir dispute through dialogue in view of huge human cost of this long standing dispute especially being borne by the people of Kashmir. Hope the two neighbors give real peace a chance!”.
In his earlier tweet, the Mirwaiz had said, “Elections in #Pakistan being keenly followed in Kashmir inspite of Govt’s recent ban on Pakistani News channels here.People in #Kashmir wish and pray for a strong and stable Govt there”.
The district administration in Srinagar banned telecast of over 20 foreign channels, mostly Pakistan based. However, Governor administration made it clear that ban has been imposed by union government and state government was just implementing it.
