Train service in south Kashmir resumes

Srinagar: Train service resumed in south Kashmir on Monday after remaining suspended for a day as a precautionary measure following death of militants in an encounter by security forces in Kulgam.

However, train service in north Kashmir between Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla was not affected on Sunday, a senior railway official told UNI.

He said a fresh advisory was received from police last night to resume train service in south Kashmir on Monday. Therefore, he said, trains will chug on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region. Train service was suspended on Sunday as precautionary measure keeping in view the safety and security of the passengers besides railway officials following the killing of three militants early yesterday at Khudwarni, Kulgam.
