Drug peddler arrested, 40 bottles of codeine phosphate recoverd: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler at Yarigund Narbal in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Police in a statement said “today on 10-07-2018 during wee hours Joint naka was laid by police party of Police Post Narbal along with 2 RR army at Yarigund Narbal”.

During naka checking one person was observed moving suspiciously.

On seeing police Naka, he tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended by the police persons.

Statement said that the person was identified as Fayaz Ahmad Bhat son of Ali Mohammed Bhat, a resident of Shipora Bandnara Magam.

Police said that 40 bottles of banned Codeine Phosphate were recovered from his possession.

The accused was arrested on spot and contraband material was seized from his possession, police said.

In this regard, case under FIR No. 91/2018 U/S 8/22 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Magam and investigation taken up.
