Militant hideout busted in Poonch, arms, ammunition recovered

Jammu: Army and paramilitary forces, in a joint operation, claimed to have  busted a militant hideout in a remote village of Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Paramilitary forces including police and Army on Thursday evening launched search operation in Mendhar and busted a terrorist hideout,” Defence spokesman said here on Friday.

He said that large quantity of arms and ammunition besides Pakistan currency was seized from the hideout.

The recoveries included two AK-56 weapons, 26 AK-56 Magazines (12 x ammunition loaded & 14 empty), 360 Rounds, 793 rounds of AK-56 Ammunition, three Pistols (02 x large & one small), two Pistol Magazines, 63 rounds of Pistol ammunition, 46 PIKA Ammunition rounds, one PIKA Magazine, 11 tiffin fitted improvised explosive devices,  20 Detonators, three RPG rounds, four Chinese hand grenades, one compass, one Bayonet, two Map Sheet AIMPL, three I Cards, seven Comn Sets, one Code Sign, one Wallet, Pak Currency (17 notes of 500 denomination), eight notes of 1000 denomination, one photograph, two slings, two diaries, one water bottle and two carry bags.(UNI)
