New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday condemned the terror attack in Jalalabad city in Afghanistan which was aimed at Sikhs and Hindus leaving many   Sikhs killed.

The Minister would be meeting the relatives of the victims later in the day in the capital.

“My heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the terror attack in Jalalabad city of Afghanistan. We are with them in this hour of tragedy,” Ms Swaraj tweeted.

A suicide bombing in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad has killed at least 19 people, most of them members of the Sikh minority.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also strongly condemned the terror attacks and said India stands ready to assist the Afghanistan government in this “sad hour”.

“We strongly condemn the terror attacks in Afghanistan yesterday. They are an attack on Afghanistan’s multicultural fabric,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

He also wrote: “My thoughts are with the bereaved families. I pray that the injured recover soon. India stands ready to assist the Afghanistan government in this sad hour”.

Meanwhile, G S Longowal, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President, said the attack was “deliberate” and urged the Indian government to take up with authorities in Pakistan to take quick and suitable actions against the perpetrators of the act. (UNI)
