Three released resistance leaders inform about Shabir Shah’s plight in prison: DFP

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has expressed relief over the release of the party’s three leaders Muhammad Sidiq Ganai of Sopore, Ghulam Jeelani Lallu of Sopore and Farooq Ahmad Dagga of Kupwara.

The trio, according to a party statement issued here, was released from Tihar jail after eight years of imprisonment through a court order.

The statement said that “a JKDFP delegation went to Sopore and Kupwara to meet the released resistance leaders. The delegation was led by Bashir Azim.”

“The JKDFP delegation was informed about the plight of incarcerated chief Shabir Shah. Shah Sahab is unable to even offer Nimaz because he cannot stand for more than a minute. Shabir Shah is seriously ill and he is not being provided appropriate medical assistance. He needs to be admitted in hospital but he has been put in a small cell all alone,” the statement said quoting three released leaders.

“The delegation got first hand and fresh information about the plight of those lodged in Tihar jail Delhi and strongly condemned jail authorities for not violating rights of Kashmiri prisoners,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the JKDFP statement extended Eid greetings to Muslims of Jammu Kashmir and appealed them “to remember martyrs, their families, prisoners, orphans, widows, destitute and other victims of the occupation while celebrating the Eid.”
