Reacting on the killing of senior Journalist and chief-in-editor Rising Kashmir, Shujaat Bukhari, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday termed it is an “act of cowardice” and an “attempt to silence the saner voices of Kashmir”.

Rajnath in his tweet said “It is an act of cowardice. It is an attempt to silence the saner voices of Kashmir. He was a courageous and fearless journalist. Extremely shocked & pained. My thoughts and prayers are with his bereaved family”.

Bukhari has been shot dead outside his office this late afternoon.

Bukhari was targeted by unknown gunmen outside his office in Press Avenue in Srinagar. He received multiple bullets in the head and abdomen.

Meanwhile his Personal Security Officer (PSO) was also shot dead.
