Weapon snatching bid foiled in Anantnag

Srinagar: Police on Thursday claimed to have foiled a rifle-snatching bid by suspected militants in Mattan area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Sources said that a group of three to four militants attacked a police post guarding the house of Advocate General, Jehangir Iqbal at Mattan with an intention to loot weapons.

“However, the alert sentry retaliated and fired some aerial shots,” sources said quoting police.

The militants fled away taking advantage of darkness. Meanwhile area has been cordoned off.
