Clashes erupt in Nowhatta, many injured

Massive clashes between government forces and youth erupted soon after Friday prayers at Srinagar’s  Nowhatta area  , reports said

Reports said soon after culmination of Friday prayers a large number of youth took to streets carrying Pakistan and Islamic flags, and tried marching towards police station Nowhatta, however they were intercepted by government forces which lead to clashes between forces and youth.

Reports said in the ensuing clashes between youth and government forces  many people received injuries, including pellet injuries

Earlier Joint Resistance leadership comprising the trio of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Faroor and Yasin Malik had called for peaceful protests to commemorate Youm Al Quds and Youm Al Kashmir Kashmir.

The last Friday of Ramadhan is observed every year as Al-Quds Day across Muslim world in support of Palestinian cause and freedom. It was designated by the founder of Islamic republic of Iran late Ayatollah Khomeini
