Mowing Kashmir youth: Cricketer Gautam Gambhir says ‘show me political will, my armed forces will show you the results’

Gautam Gambhir calls for showing political will so that armed forces will show results

Srinagar: Indian cricketer, Gautam Gambhir has come in strong defence of the paramilitary CRPF, claiming if the political will is shown, armed forces will show strong results (in Kashmir).

The cricketer in back to back tweets from his handle wrote;

“Am devastated. Wonder if India still thinks there is room for talks with stone-pelters! Come on, let’s get real. Show me the political will and my armed forces, my @crpfindia will show you the results,” Gambhir tweeted.

“I have a solution: Make it mandatory for politicians to spend a week in troubled parts of Kashmir along with their families&without security. Only then they b allowed to contest 2019 elections. No other way to make them understand d plight of armed forces & a well-meaning Kashmiri,” he wrote in another tweet.

He wrote tweets in response to the video capturing the mowing down of the youth at Nowhatta by a CRPF vehicle, and subsequent stone pelting by the angry youth, shared by the Republic TV journalist, Aditya Raj Koul.

On Friday, two youth were crushed under tyres by a fast moving CRPF vehicle which rammed into the group of pro-freedom protesters at Nowhatta.

One youth Qaiser Amin later succumbed to his injuries while as another youth Alim Nissar is still hospitalised and suffering from serious wounds.

In his tweet Koul had posted a comment along with a video, giving a very different sequence of events as to what led to the mowing down of the youth on the ground;

“Look at how a mob of stone pelters today targeted a @crpf_srinagar vehicle at Nowhatta in Srinagar, Kashmir. Just imagine what could have happened if they would’ve been able to open the gypsy doors. No Kashmir media outlets will show this truth as it doesn’t suit the propaganda”.

Earlier this week, Koul, a member of Pandit community, had turned into a saboteur when he questioned New Delhi’s Ramzaan ceasefire in a series of tweets by basing his arguments on completely unverified information regarding an incident which included accident of CRPF vehicle at Bemina.
