Six police officers killed in Afghan suicide attack

At least six police officers were killed in Afghanistan on Wednesday after the Taliban attackers including a suicide bomber stormed a police station in southern, AFP reported.

Reports said that the bomber blown up an explosive-laden vehicle at the entrance of the police station in Puli Alam, the capital of Logar province. While as the three other attackers entered into the police station compound, triggering a gun-battle with security forces.

“During the firing exchange the six police officers including three national police and three traffic police officers were killed. While as the attackers were also killed in the gun-battle,” reports said.

“Earlier two commanders among 17 persons were killed in Afghan air strike near Pakistan border,” AFP reported.

The Taliban, who are stepping up their spring offensive against Afghan security forces and government officials, claimed responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile nine civilians were also killed on Monday.
