Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Inspector General (Kashmir Range)  has inaugurated the high-tech “Criminal and Crime Tracking Network and System (CCTNS)” with the aim to improve coordination between police stations to track crime and take appropriate timely action, a police statement has said.

Quoting IG Kashmir Swayam Prakash Pani, the statement said that the new system is part of “a mission mode project under the National e-Governance Plan of Government of India.”

Under the CCTNS project, IGP Kashmir said that “all police stations of the state will be linked to each other for sharing of information about various crimes and criminals within their respective jurisdictions.”

The statement further said that “this technological advancement in police is a good step to achieve objectives such as reaching out to the public in quick and transparent manner.”

According to the statement issued to the press by the police, the IGP inaugurated the newly constructed CCTNS and IT labs at District Police Office Anantnag, in south Kashmir.

The project, according to police,  “is a landmark project in making to make police more accessible, transparent and citizen friendly.”

The statement claimed that it will also help in “improving the law and order situation.”

“The system will facilitate people in lodging online as well as offline complaints at police stations which are linked with CCTNS,” it said.

DIG South Kashmir Shri Amit Kumar IPS, SSP Anantnag, SSP Kulgam and SSP Awantipora were present during the inaugural ceremony.
