Ahead of Eidgah Chalo call, Mukhtar Waza detained

Jammu and Kashmir Chairman, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza in Monday was detained by government forces in Islamabad town when he was on the way to Eidgah in Srinagar.

Mukhtar along with his associates were on way to pay tributes to prominent liberation leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone and Hawal martyrs on their martyrdom anniversaries.

JKPL spokesman in a statement has said that Party chairman along with party members were detained at Saddar Police Station in Islamabad.

He strongly denounced the curbs imposed by the authorities to prevent the Eidgah march called by the joint resistance leadership terming the decision as the worst form of state repression.

Mukhtar Ahmad Waza in a statement said that the campaign to malign Hurriyet and the ongoing movement in Kashmir by Indian media is part of the strategy.

Government of India is hell-bent upon maligning the image of Hurriyet leadership and for the purpose the services of print and electronic media and other organizations have been hired.

India is chalking out a plan to ban Hurriyet and that is why Indian media is spewing venom against pro-freedom leadership, he said. The ongoing struggle in Kashmir is a people’s movement and Hurriyet represents their aspirations and sentiments, Waza added.
