Restrictions imposed in Srinagar to foil ‘Dharna’ at civil secretariat

Authorities on Monday have imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar and other places to prevent protests and a sit-in outside the Civil Secretariat called by the Joint Resistance Leadership.

The call was given by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has asked people to stage a (sit-in) outside the civil secretariat till carnage is not stopped in Kashmir.

The Civil Secretariat that houses the offices of the Chief Minister, her colleagues and senior bureaucrats is opening on Monday after a six-month rest in Jammu.

Five civilians as much as militants were killed in encounter with forces’ including, top Hizb commander and an assistant professor of the Kashmir University who was missing since Friday.

Scores of civilians were also injured during clashes with government forces’ in which most of them have firearm injuries and are being treated in different hospitals of the valley.

All educational institutions have been shut in the valley. Exams scheduled for Monday were also postponed. Rail services were also suspended as a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, mobile internet services remained suspended in whole valley since Sunday.

Security have been deployed in the areas where restrictions and also at other law and order vulnerable places.

Meanwhile, Geelani and the Mirwaiz have been put under house detention while JKLF chairman Yasin Malik has been taken into custody..
