US welcomes 4G internet restoration, looks for restoring normalcy in Kashmir

Srinagar: The United states has welcomed the restoration of 4g internet restoration in Jammu and Kashmir and said it looks forward for “restoring normalcy in Kashmir”.

“We welcome the resumption of 4G mobile internet in India’s Jammu & Kashmir,” the US state department bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs wrote in a tweet.

“This marks an important step for local residents and we look forward to continued political & economic progress to restore normalcy in J&K”.

After remaining suspended for 550 days, the government restored the 4G mobile internet facility outside the districts of Ganderbal and Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir.

The high-speed facility was restored on a trial basis in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal and Jammu region’s Udhampur on August 16 last year.

In the rest of the 18 other districts, the internet speed remained to be restricted to 2G only with government giving one or the other reasons for its action.
