Shopian gunfight: Many civilians injured in clashes with government forces

Srinagar:Nine people have suffered injuries during clashes with government forces near the gunfight site in Gadapora village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Quoting doctors at the Primary Health Centre Harmain, reports said that nine civilians were brought to the health fcility with injuries. They said that eight of the injured have received pellet injuries while another has suffered a bullet injury.

Among the eight pellet injured, six have been referred to Srinagar for treatment, who had received pellets in eyes and face.

Another civilian, they said, identified as Saboor Ahmad, a resident of Kundalan village has received a bullet injury in neck and has been referred to SMHS hospital Srinagar for treatment.

So far two militants have been killed in the gunfight that ensued in the wee hours today. As the gunfigt raged, the civilians thronged the site and pelted government forces with stones who retaliated by firing pellets and bullets.
