New Delhi: The United States has deferred 2 plus 2 dialogue with India but said a convenient dates will be worked out soon.

MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted here and said that the US Secretary of State Pompeo spoke to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to express his regret and deep disappointment as the US having to postpone the 2+2 Dialogue for “unavoidable reasons”.

Pompeo also sought Ms Swaraj’s understanding, and they agreed to identify new mutually convenient dates to hold the Dialogue at the earliest, in India or the US.

For the maiden 2 plus 2 dialogue, Ms Swaraj and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman were to travel to US early July. UNI
