Srinagar, May 17:  Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir,  Dilbag Singh, led a high-level joint security meeting at the Police Headquarters in Srinagar.

 

The meeting aimed to assess the security situation in the Kashmir Zone and discuss security arrangements for the upcoming G20 event. The DGP emphasized the importance of close coordination among all levels of officers to ensure effective security measures.

During the meeting, the district SSP’s and Range DIG’s provided briefings on the prevailing security scenario in their respective jurisdictions and the measures taken to maintain a peaceful environment in the valley.

The DGP emphasized the need for enhanced coordination among all security forces and directed for increased patrolling and night domination to prevent any disturbance.

He stressed the importance of maintaining alertness, implementing “nakas” (checkpoints), and conducting joint patrolling to monitor the movement of anti-national elements, particularly on inter-district routes and in the periphery.

The DGP also emphasized the significance of securing vital installations and protected individuals. He urged officers to review and execute security plans efficiently, considering changing circumstances, to counter any nefarious designs of anti-national elements.

Strengthening both the border and hinterland security grid was highlighted, along with a focus on counter-terrorist operations and targeting the Over Ground Worker (OGW) network. The DGP emphasized the need for improved intelligence collection at the ground level and its sharing among the various security forces.

In addition to the security review, the meeting addressed the arrangements and deployment plans for the forthcoming G20 event. Detailed discussions took place on ensuring a smooth conduct of the event, including coordination among all forces and the civil administration. The DGP stressed the importance of joint review of all arrangements by stakeholders to ensure synergy and better coordination. A detailed presentation regarding the deployment and security plans for the event was given by the DIG CKR (Central Kashmir Range) along with the SSPs of Srinagar, Budgam, Security, and Traffic City Srinagar.

This high-level joint security meeting underlines the commitment of Jammu and Kashmir’s law enforcement agencies to maintain peace, security, and successful conduct of the G20 event while countering any potential threats posed by anti-national elements.

Key attendees at the meeting included the  Special DG CID J&K  R.R Swain, ADGP CRPF J&K  Nalin Prabhat, ADGP’s SJM Gillani, Dr. S. D. Singh Jamwal,  M.K Sinha,  Vijay Kumar, IGP BSF Ftr. Hqrs Kashmir  Ashok Yadav, IG CRPF (Ops) Kashmir M.S Bhatia, IGP Traffic J&K Vikramjeet Singh, IGP Hqrs PHQ  B S Tuti, BGS Ops 15th Corps Shri Dahiya, DIsG  Sujit Kumar, Imtiaz Ismail Parray,  Abdul Qayoom,   Javid Iqbal Matoo, SSP Srinagar, SSP Budgam, AIsG of PHQ, SSP Security, SSP Traffic Srinagar, and Kashmir based IR/AP Commandants. The DIG of North Kashmir Range, DIG of South Kashmir Range, and all District SSP’s of the Kashmir zone attended the meeting via video conferencing.
